Where Can I See a Fire Show in San Diego?

One of the most common questions I’m asked is, “Where can I see your fire show in San Diego?” My usual response is that I’m usually hired to perform at weddings, corporate events, and other private parties.

This can be disappointing to my potential clients, friends, and fans, but I can say as a fire performer that the majority of San Diego fire shows are performed for private events.

But, I’ve got GREAT news! I’m over the moon to announce that I’ll be performing two fire shows every Thursday this summer, from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend at The Blue Wave Bar and Grill.

The restaurant is located inside the Best Western Plus Island Palms Hotel & Marina on Shelter Island Drive in San Diego and is perfectly suited for fire shows.

For the uninitiated, Shelter Island is an area of San Diego known for its hotels’ and restaurants’ tropical vibe. The Blue Wave is a casual fine dining restaurant with views of the marina and the Island Palms pool deck, where I’ll be performing. While the pool is reserved for guests, the restaurant is open to the public. Come for dinner and drinks and take in a fire show.

The Blue Wave boasts a tropically inspired seasonal menu, local craft beer, handcrafted mocktails, and tiki drinks. Among their most popular offerings are fish and chips and the vegan orange “chicken” cauliflower. Vegan and gluten-free items are clearly labeled on the menu, making the restaurant an excellent choice for groups with dietary restrictions. Since the restaurant doesn’t take reservations, I’d recommend getting there a little early and requesting a table with a view of the fire show.

The first fire show will begin on the pool deck adjacent to the restaurant just after sunset, around 8 pm. Come early for tropically inspired cuisine, and watch the show over after-dinner drinks. For your safety, please do not attempt to approach the performance area. However, dancing in your seat, singing, and clapping along to your favorite songs are encouraged! Stay for a photo opportunity directly after the first set, before shipping the kids off to bed. If you’d like a photo with the flaming props, you’ll have to act quickly, though – the mini photoshoot opportunity only lasts a few minutes before the props have to be extinguished.

After a 30-minute intermission, the second fire show will begin. I recommend arriving by 8:30 pm to catch the final act, which starts at about 8:45. Food and drink will be available until 9:30 or later, depending on order volume so you can linger over handcrafted cocktails or mocktails, or check out the nearby nightlife.
